 BSI Engineering, Inc. is currently under an active three year term
contract with the Boston Water & Sewer Commission to provide
Subsurface Utility Engineering Services for the Commissions various
water, sewer and storm drain infrastructure improvements. The Boston
Water & Sewer Commission was established over 30 years ago to help
decrease the amount of human waist pollution entering Boston Harbor
and replace/repair, and maintain Boston’s aging water & sewer
infrastructure.
BSIE was presented with the task of providing various subsurface
utility services throughout all of the Boston neighborhoods from
city proper to Logan Airport. The unique challenge presented to BSIE
is the age and complexity of Boston’s underground utility
infrastructure. Due to Boston’s rapid growth as a major metropolitan
city it is a rare instance to find a street without underground
facilities or to find streets with available trenches for proposed
utilities. That is were BSI Engineering, Inc. can truly provide our
customers with valuable SUE information thus rendering precious
project cost savings that can be carried from design to
construction.
BSIE has performed SUE investigations on all major electrical,
telecommunication, gas, water, steam, sewer and drain facilities on
multiple BWSC design projects at locations throughout the city. Our
services to the BWSC have included electronic designation of
utilities, Closed Circuit Television inspection of sewers and
drains, non-destructive vacuum excavation, survey location,
supporting traffic management and utility design recommendations.
