In 2007 BSIE was awarded a contract for which a major electrical
transmission duct bank would be installed in Springfield, MA. BSIE
provided quality level B, C and D information according to CI/ASCE
38-02 standards for a proposed 115 KV electrical transmission duct
bank alignment running through densely populated urban streets. BSIE
prepared a preliminary utility report on several proposed alignments
in which the relocation costs and impacts were reviewed. This
allowed the impact to utilities to be included as a consideration in
choosing the alignment that would go from concept to the preliminary
stage.
BSIE was contracted to provide QL-B, C and D data according to CI/ASCE
38-02 standards for preliminary design purposes along 13 miles of
urban arterial roadway. BSIE’s field personnel performed all QL-C
survey and QL-B electronic designation services for the entire 13
mile alignment. In addition, BSIE’s IT team developed a customized
AutoCAD standard specifically for this project that was capable of
migrating seamlessly between Microstation and AutoCAD Land Desktop
platforms.
